Online course: Tuesday evenings 18:30-20:30 PM, 4 February – 24 March 2020

Whilst this course can simply support stress management, it is particularly offered for people who are considering how they can be creating systemic change through their life, communities and work. It will be offered in the context of mindfulness seen from a systemic perspective (for a quick snapshot please see Ron Purser’s article).

About the course

Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT™) is Stanford University’s secular course in mindfulness and compassion training.

CCT provides a deeply practical framework for developing mindfulness and compassion for yourself and others. It’s an eight-week course integrating traditional meditation practice with contemporary psychology & scientific research – as well as philosophy & art. It is designed to help participants explore the themes in a conceptual and embodied manner, as well as considering how the tools can support their day to day lives.

CCT was developed by Thupten Jinpa (the Dalai Lama’s principal translator) and Kelly McGonigal PhD, along with other psychologists and contemplative scholars.

CCT is designed to offer a supportive way to explore meditation at whatever level suits you. Cultivating compassion goes beyond feeling more empathy and concern for others. It develops self-compassion, the strength to be with suffering, the courage to take compassionate action, & the resilience to prevent compassion collapse. These qualities support a wide range of goals, from improving relationships, enjoying life & making positive difference in the world, to reducing stress, anxiety, and depression.

Although each course varies, you can expect lots of laughter, plenty of peace, and a few “a-ha!” moments of learning along the way. This course offers a supportive way to explore meditation at whatever level suits you. You can read more in course feedback>.

Each week explores different themes, including self-compassion, challenging relationships and communication. All aspects are optional and the course includes:
